Hey Finance Engineers,
Turns out the AR inbox is a hot topic.
The last issue got more replies than anything we’ve sent this year, and most of them asked the same question: “This is great. Can it do AP?”
Yes. The same pattern works for your AP inbox with a few adjustments, and that’s what this issue is about.
But once we started adjusting, we realized the automation doesn’t really care what the inbox is called.
You can build at least 5 more inbox automations from the AR one. Supplier invoices. Supplier statements. Expense receipts. The replies to your payment reminders. Payout notices from Stripe.
So if you’ve ever wanted an inbox fairy for any of these, this is the issue.
Shorter read than part one, no new code, and the full kit is attached, with demo emails and an answer key for every inbox.
Let’s go.
What we are building today
Five more inbox automations, each one a copy of the AR build with three things swapped:
Supplier invoices (AP inbox). Logs every invoice, checks it against your vendors and open POs, and catches fake bank-detail emails
Supplier statements (AP inbox). Finds invoices on their statement that aren’t in your books
Expense receipts (receipts inbox). Matches every receipt to a company card charge and flags the charges nobody sent a receipt for
Replies to payment reminders (AR inbox). Sorts every reply into promise, dispute, resend or “already paid,” and checks the last one against your remittance log
Card processor payouts (finance inbox). Splits gross, fees and net, and checks the net landed in the bank
Each one runs every 15 minutes. You review the exceptions. Nothing posts to your accounting system without you.
And you get to drink your morning coffee while it runs (sorry, coffee’s not included in this issue)☕
Who this is for
Anyone who built part one and has 15 minutes to copy it to a second inbox.
AP teams paying 100+ bills a month, especially if you’ve ever had a “please update our bank details” email that made you pause.
Controllers whose month-end waits on supplier statement recs.
Collections and credit control who spend mornings reading replies to dunning emails.
What you need
The AR build from part one, or 45 minutes to do it now
The kit at the end of this issue
Nothing else. Same Sheet, same script, same Claude API key
How the inbox fairy works
Every one of these automations has the same logic:
